Your first appointment
What happens from booking to the end of your visit.
- Book by calling the department’s booking line. The hospital team will agree a day and time with you.
- Arrive a little before your appointment so you have time to register at reception.
What to bring
Useful to have with you at any appointment.
- A form of personal identification.
- Previous reports, test results and X-rays, if you have them.
- A list of the medicines you take and their doses. Do not stop any medicine on your own.
Hospital admission
What is needed when you are admitted for treatment or surgery.
- Patients are admitted through the emergency service, through the outpatient clinics, or on referral from a doctor.
- At admission we record the patient’s name, father’s and mother’s names, age, address, phone number and blood group, if known.
- Bring identification for both the patient and the person accompanying them. The companion’s ID number is recorded.
- The companion signs a consent form for medical procedures before treatment begins.
